Francis Steiner, MBA
Francis holds an MBA from London Business School and has over 20 years of hands-on startup experience. He brings deep expertise in business development, marketing, finance, and legal strategy. Having made and learned from the startup mistakes, he now helps early-stage teams avoid them as a part-time Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UBC.
His fourth startup was acquired by Philips, delivering a 5× return to investors. His fifth venture is advancing a medical technology to detect potassium levels in the human body, currently progressing toward clinical trials in a multi-billion-dollar market.
Stefano Fregonese, PhD
Stefano holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and brings a deep background in materials science, manufacturing, and product development. As the CEO of DISC Alloys, he leads the company's mission to revolutionize metal additive manufacturing through Cold Spray technology. With a strong focus on innovation and execution, Stefano combines technical expertise with entrepreneurial vision to build scalable solutions for aerospace, defense, and high-performance industrial applications.
